Pacific Cancer Foundation Impact Story
The person on the other end of the phone said: “Stephan, I heard you’re the person I need to talk to for an important short film we need made for our gala event coming up in just a few weeks at Four Seasons Resort Maui.”
Little did I suspect the Pacific Storytellers team would make such a meaningful contribution and meet some incredible people along the way. Cancer touches almost every family I’ve ever talked to, including my own immediate one.
In our pre-production story-finding I talked to people in our own Maui wedding industry touched by this disease, men who battle their tendencies to not talk about their feelings and fears while working through their treatments and facing their own mortality, to several parents of young keiki shepherding their little ones through unimaginable pain and suffering.
This little film shown at tonight’s @pacificcancerfoundation gala at @fsmaui in front of a crowd of 400 generous donors to the cause is why my team and I, particularly @reecepottorff, became filmmakers: to highlight the heroes who walk amongst us.
