When covid-19 hit, the Merwin Conservancy initially needed to bring their annual fundraiser online. To that end, Pacific Story Tellers was asked to film original footage of the palm forest and house, and then piece it all together in a one hour long video that included self-submitted poetry reading by world-famous poets and authors.
The person on the other end of the phone said: “Stephan, I heard you’re the person I need to talk to for an important short film we need made for our gala event coming up in just a few weeks at Four Seasons Resort Maui.”
Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center set out to find stories of resilience and inspiration in these times of turmoil. What we found was a treasure trove full of them.
Suffice it to say, this is our dream when a client has seen our previous work, understands that we are expert storytellers who do more than just point the camera at something and press record, and leave it to US to find, develop and produce excellent films that SAY SOMETHING.

Muse Storytelling contracted Stephan for story discovery sessions (meeting with employees and interviewing them), as well as assist in the production as a whole. His roles were AC and AP, as well as the local fixer and talent scout.

His role in this project varied from Assistant Producing, bringing together and managing the opening hula sequence to Assisting First Camera to talent (the guy jumping in the water upon entry) and Second Camera.
